Treatment of Tattoo by Q-Switched Nd: Yag Laser: a Clinical and Histological Study.

Abstract

Several methods have been used to remove tattoos with variable results. Incomplete removal of tattoos and postoperative scarring is not infrequent. Recently, lasers using selective photothermolysis have been developed to clear the tattoos very
effectively without major morbidities.
This study is reporting a case of black tattoo on right upper arm which embedded 10 years befroe and improved clinically after 2 times treatment with Q-switched Nd: YAG laser. In histopathological study, tattoo pigments were eradicated remarkable
with
some pigment laden macrophages. Treatment of tattoos by laser has distinctive advantages of it's simplicity and effectiveness without major side effects.
